We enjoyed an evening of Gershwin and Felix Mendelssohn at the Royal Opera House , while Thunder & Lightning played outside around Muscat.
Gershwin’s music was An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue with piano performance by Alexei Volodin, the acoustics of the auditorium showed off the individual performers superbly.
Mendelssohn’s Symphony no 4 appropriately ‘The Italian’ was played ‘molto vivace’ by the young orchestra making for a very bright end to the evening.
Earlier it was our pleasure to take a board member of the New York Philharmonic for an extended visit of the building & facilities courtesy of the Director of the Royal Opera House .
It was extraordinary to see the amount of preparation needed for a performance by a full orchestra.
