Flying down to Salalah after visiting northern Oman we have been visiting some of the places in my new book “Walking Through History”.

Central Coast of Oman

The Central Coast of Oman is affected by the summer Monsoon and so as Muscat is now not only hot but also humid we took a few days to travel down the coast from Muscat.

Mid-summer in Oman is also peak nesting season for turtles and we were fortunate to see this Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta)

National Museum Muscat

I had an interesting visit to the workshop where exhibits for the new National Museum are being made.

From renovating old boats , through to making museum grade scale models of historical boats to creating pre-historic Omani craft based on archaeological excavations – its a painstaking job.

Serenade of the Seas in Muscat
